The results from the Football Resurrection tournament held at Ludicrus 08 have been published in the Elite Member Newsletter - you can sign up the newsletter and join in the online fun at www.footballresurrection.com Aston hard done by as Jordan claims the "Runik Rose Trophy" Hotly contested over two days at the Ludicrus 08 game fair in Ipswich the first ever winner of the Football Resurrection "Runik Rose Trophy" fired his way to victory last Sunday. Split over two formats, open play and an organised league, players went up against an Elite Grand Master and each other to compete for the "Runik Rose Trophy".
The league format went down to the last kick of the last game. Going in to the final round Jordon Singh trailed the leader, Aston Dowdy (pictured below), by 2 points. With 3 points for the win it was all in the balance. With the score at 2-2, with both Match Decks exhausted and the game deep into injury time in the second half Aston was set to claim the league title as Jordon finally let the "big dogs eat". In a desperate finale Jordon threw Madjer, Vorrasi and Dawson, who had at last been released from his defensive duties, forward in a power move totaling 35,000. With the ref looking at his watch, Aston, looking emotionally drained, resorted to "last ditch" defending and had kept Ronnie Bradford, England's notoriously overweight goalkeeper back for just this event. .....But, at 34,500 the shot from Dawson just squirmed beneath the keeper's body and over the line! Aston looked on in disbelief. The Ref checked with the linesman and to make sure the ball had gone over the line there were 3 replays before Jordon was finally awarded the goal! With the points from the league in the bag there was a final open round to go and with time running out Aston, still in second place overall, took on Lee. Whilst Daryl - an impressive newcomer to the game - was grabbing a handful of victories against Zack's, attractive to watch, but injury ravaged team.
When the smoke settled Daryl (pictured right) had amassed a further 6 points to Astons 3, enough to raise Daryl to 2nd overall and relegate Aston to 3rd. Jordon however had consolidated his 1st place with a win over the attending Elite Grand Master.
For Daryl, Matt, Zack, Brendan, Dave, Jay -O, Robert, Lee, Andy, Luke, Kieran, Shane and Aston, who all made it onto the leader board at some point there is always next year. For Jordon - The streets are paved with gold!
